Kvarken Flada is a 3-year Interreg
Botnia-Atlantica project between Finland and Sweden that started in November
2016. The project aims to maintain biological diversity in flads and ecosystem
services that are provided by these, emphasis on fish production. Due to the
protective, nutrient rich and warm ambient flads have a potential to be
important spawning and growing areas for species such as pike and perch. They
also cherish a large amount of different plants and animals from underwater
vegetation to fish, insects and bats.
